Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the book that started off the Thursday Murder Club series.
The protagonists of this book are a foursome of retirees:
- Joy, the main point of view character, a widowed nurse.
- Elizabeth, a former employee of MI6 who can’t talk much about her career, and whose husband is in the early stages of dementia.
- Ron, a former union leader, and
- Ibrahim, an Egyptian psychiatrist.
They are joined by a young policewoman Donna and her boss Chris, who become their unlikely allies.
This book (and its sequels, but I’ll get to those) is laugh-out-loud funny. While I guessed at parts of it, the mystery is genuinely engrossing.
